As second oldest sister, Maureen had much of the
responsibility for babysitting the three youngest sisters and tattling on the other three siblings (so they say!).
She graduated from St. Catherine University with a B.A. in Elementary Education and taught for a few years.
She then went on to taste the restaurant business with her brothers.
This first experience in managing adults brought a new meaning to "on-the-job training." But when the landowners
sold the whole block (which meant leveling the restaurant),
Maureen took it as a definite sign that it was time to move onto a new career.
Maureen entered the computer industry in 1981 when IBM was beginning to build Personal Computers.
Her positon as a Marketing Support Representative introduced her to sales and sales support, but she also
continued to teach.
She went on to start her own computer consulting business from 1988 2000. She joined a local nonprofit as Training Director, where she continues to use her degree in education.
The age and size of her students have changed, as adults now populate her classes. Although her coursework
currently encompasses Information Technology, her elementary education skills still apply.
Maureen juggles her business career with her role as the parent of a teenage son, enjoying the
challenges and rewards of both. Her childhood dream was to be a Rockette at New York's Radio City Music Hall.
She took tap dancing lessons as an adult, although she gave only one recital for all her efforts.
She doesn't rule out the Rockettes, however. She believes in having dreams so she keeps her tap shoes polished.
